Why Our Alkaline Soil Locks Up Iron

The most effective chelate on strongly alkaline soils is FeEDDHA, which holds up where cheaper iron products would be tied up by the pH. Applied at label rate, chelated iron typically deepens green color within days to a couple of weeks, without driving the flush of growth that nitrogen would.

Addressing the Soil Over Time

Iron applications treat the symptom. The longer-term play is improving the soil so iron becomes more available on its own — supporting soil biology and organic matter, relieving compaction through aeration, and using products that gently influence pH at the root zone over time. A soil test turns this from guesswork into a plan, confirming the pH and nutrient picture driving the color.

Ruling Out the Other Causes of Yellowing

Iron chlorosis is common, but it is not the only thing that yellows an OKC lawn. The right fix depends on the right diagnosis.
